Une Folle Journée.
A staged opera pastiche with ensembles and arias from Le nozze di Figaro, Così fan tutte and Don Giovanni
Salzburger, Festspiele - 2024
Imagine a top-tier Mozart ensemble stranded at an international airport after a performance in Salzburg. Unfortunately, this situation feels all too plausible these days. As time passes, the unique personalities of the cast members begin to surface, intertwining in a chaotic “day of madness and folly” that echoes the spirit of Mozart and Da Ponte. Despite the chaos, there is a hopeful expectation of a bittersweet happy ending and a grand finale.
Davide Livermore has crafted this opera gala especially for Salzburg, drawing music from Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Così fan tutte, as well as other pieces by Mozart, with texts by his brilliant collaborator Lorenzo Da Ponte.
The presence of celebrated Mozart performers like Cecilia Bartoli, Lea Desandre, Daniel Behle, Rolando Villazón, Ildebrando D’Arcangelo, and Alessandro Corbelli, along with the witty conductor Gianluca Capuano and the exquisite pianist Daniil Trifonov, promises an evening that will be richly theatrical, delightfully ironic, and deeply moving, even amid the extended wait for their flights.
Adding to the magic, the spectacular scenes designed by Giò Forma and the stunning visuals created by D-WOK will transform the stage into a visual masterpiece, enhancing the immersive experience of the performance.
